Tablets and data plans

Whether you want to work or study from home or on the go, or just keep your kids entertained, tablets can come in very handy.

Tablets are lightweight and portable, and can easily fit into backpacks, carry bags or briefcases. They’re also often more affordable than a laptop. And if you have a Telstra Data Plan for your tablet, you can access the internet quickly, just about anywhere. Check emails, edit documents on the cloud, browse the web and stream content in or out of home. 

A data-only plan is a service that allows you to connect to the internet via the mobile network. It includes a data allowance only and can’t be used to make calls or send SMS.

Our post-paid data-only plans are called Telstra Data Plans, and they come with a SIM card that can be used in a tablet or mobile broadband device. All of our new data plans are month-to-month, and you can add on a new tablet or device or bring your own.

Our Pre-Paid data-only plans are called Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband Go Plans.  

There are currently global supply issues for some tablet models due to a surge in demand, as more and more people transition to working from home. Some models may be unavailable for an extended period of time. 

If you have access to the internet, either via Wi-Fi or the mobile network, you can make calls over the internet using your tablet if you install an app that allows you to do so. Your tablet might come with an app installed, or you can download one from your tablet’s app store.
